Code of Honor Scholarships Application Period Now Open, Deadline is July 12

The scholarships help to ensure the I-Codes reflect the consensus view of officials at all levels of government by providing funding to Governmental Member Voting Representatives seeking to participate in the Public Comment Hearings, Oct. 2–10, in Atlantic City, N.J. 2013 Global Membership Award Nomination Deadline Is July 15

If you know an exemplary individual or group whose contributions to building safety, code compliance, fire prevention, sustainability, public service or community service are commendable, nominate that person or group for an International Code Council award. Award recipients will be honored and recognized publicly for their accomplishments during the 2013 ICC Annual Conference in Atlantic City, N.J.

Call for Nominations to the ICC Board of Directors

Elections of officers and vacant Board of Directors positions will be held on Oct 1 at the Annual Business Meeting. All Board candidates must submit a letter of interest, current resume and any other information they feel necessary to support their candidacy to be received by the Chair of the Nominating Committee by Aug. 2 to ensure an interview. Free Online Tornado, Hurricane Safety Course Available

The Code Council is offering a free online course in the ICC Online Campus to provide consumers with the information necessary to make an informed decision about installing a storm shelter in their homes. The course provides additional information on the weather hazards which affect life safety and how a storm shelter mitigates these risks. Energy Department Launches New Database on Building Energy Performance

The Energy Department today launched a new Buildings Performance Database, the largest free, publicly available database of residential and commercial building energy performance information. Currently, commercial and residential buildings account for approximately 70% of the electricity consumption in the nation. The database strengthens the Department’s commitment to provide U.S. industry, state and local governments, and researchers with innovative energy data tools that can help cut energy waste and save money. New Chapter Annual Report Submission Format – Due In August

Chapters now have one deadline – August 15 – to submit your Annual Report in order to receive all your Chapter benefits, including a complimentary registration to ICC’s Annual Conference. Anyone who submits their Annual Report after August 15 but before the end of the year will still qualify for a Chapter Education Benefit Day. This August 15 deadline is a firm date; if you wish to qualify for all your benefits, you must file before this date.

Once you submit your Annual Report, the Chapter’s designated contact person will receive an email with the discount code you’ll need in order to register for the Annual Conference. Please do not register until you receive that code. ICC National Certification Exams—2012 Version Available Now!

Exams based on the 2012 codes will be administered via computer-based testing beginning July 1. Register today and be among the first to get your 2012 International Code certification.
Computer-based testing for the 2009 codes is still available and will be offered through at least December 2013. Register soon to ensure your seat in the remaining 2009 computer-based exams.
